The goal

Remodel a Victorian home's  kitchen. Refine traffic flow between dining room, kitchen and back of the house. Fulfill his love of rich woodwork and her preference for an airier look.

Some highlights

Traffic for the front of the house to the back used to flow through the middle of the kitchen. Separating the traffic between spaces from the kitchen's work triangle maintained logical connections while increasing kitchen efficiency.

Combining quarter-sawn oak with painted cabinets gave both homeowners what they love.

An ice cream parlour-style dinette adds a sense of fun.

Island light fixtures were salvaged from a recent renovation of Walter Library at the University of Minnesota.
