The goal

Design a newly acquired 9,000 square foot contemporary home. Use existing architectural elements and as many existing finishes as possible. Select or design all furnishings and window treatments, and incorporate pieces from the previous home where possible. Accommodate family needs and frequent entertaining of all kinds.

Some highlights

Our design concept uses careful attention to scale, shifting color emphasis, traditional layering, and a playful attitude to make a large, informal space feel as gracious to the family as it does to a guest.

Careful space planning of the family room overcame its lobby-like proportions. By defining three separate furniture groupings with individual focal points and similar schemes, we brought human scale and warmth to the room. Our custom designed area rugs play a key role in establishing these groups as related but separate.

A custom designed pool table provides a reason to use the formal living room.

The master suite serves as an oasis for the client to escape from the stresses of her busy family’s life. The concept uses lots of details to create a sense of luxury, with touches of color that are softer versions of the deep shades used throughout the house.

Playfulness is found in many details throughout the home, putting a friendly face on the house to family and visitors alike.
