The goal

Stretch the utility and visual size of a 1,900 square foot condominium. Reflect the owner’s interests in contemporary art, antiques and urban living. Provide visual interest in a space that offers little compelling architectural interest.

Some highlights

An airy neutral shell is accented with rich color and pattern in the main living spaces to create an open feeling, while furniture placement defines intimate conversation spaces.

An existing door between the living and den was removed and replaced with French doors to better unite the spaces. Open, the doors enlarge the space visually and functionally for entertaining. Closed, the den becomes a cozy guest bedroom with a sofa sleeper and convenient recesses in built-ins to store ottomans when the bed is being used.

Sculptural furnishings, including a custom designed cabinet with a "skyscraper" crown, blend with antique pieces and original art to create an urban interior that reflects a sophisticated art lover.
